Camise Patterson hired as Alabama State softball coach

According to the O&G Strike Zone, sources have related that Florida A&M head softball coach Camise Patterson has resigned.

Patterson took the helm of the FAMU Softball program in January 2023; she had been an assistant coach on the staff for the previous two seasons where she coached slappers and outfielders. She recorded a 46-44 overall and a 32-16 mark in the SWAC. This season Coach Patterson and the Rattlers advanced to the SWAC Tournament Finals, where they were defeated 3-1 by the Tigers of Jackson State.

Coach Patterson has reportedly secured her landing spot. According to Gerald Thomas III of the Tallahassee Democrat, Patterson will become the head softball coach at Alabama State, replacing Todd Bradley, who resigned for personal reasons after leading the Hornets softball program for the past 5 years.

I am beyond excited to welcome Camise to the Bama State family,” Cable said. “What she did in a relatively short time at FAMU was remarkable. As we got to know Camise during this process, her core values, passion for the game, and the student-athlete experience directly aligned with what we want to accomplish at ASU. The future of Bama State softball is bright under her leadership.”

In a statement released by Alabama State, Patterson said, in part, she was “deeply honored and grateful to be the next Head Softball Coach at Alabama State University.”
